Our Strategy 

The Issue:
The city has said audits are underway, but no detailed updates or timelines have been made public. Residents deserve to know what years are complete, which are in progress, and when the process will be finished.

Our Solution:
Require a public audit progress tracker with clear start and completion dates for each fiscal year. Updates should be shared at every council meeting and reflected in the minutes until the city is fully current and verified by the state.

The Issue:
While utility rate increases may have been discussed in public meetings, the details have not been explained in plain terms. Residents often do not know when or why changes are made.

Our Solution:
Require that every proposed rate adjustment include a written summary, visual breakdown, and explanation shared publicly before any vote. Meetings should include clear discussion that’s documented in full, not brief mentions in minutes.

The Issue:
Many city projects are approved with little public follow-up on cost, timeline, or completion status. Without updates, residents cannot see whether projects are finished on time or within budget.

Our Solution:
Implement a “Project Status Report” system. Each department will submit quarterly updates that show progress, spending to date, and next steps. This report should be presented during open council meetings and posted online. Also work to reduce overall spending by 2 million dollars over the next 2 years.

The Issue:
Quitman has no fully functional public spaces or youth centers within the city limits. There are no active places where young people can learn, gather, or grow, and no community centers that bring residents together or provide programs for families.

The Solution:
We will review the city’s budget and redirect unnecessary spending toward restoring public spaces and creating resources for youth. By working with the city council, schools, and community partners, we can begin building safe and accessible centers that serve both our youth and our neighborhoods. A balanced budget is the first step toward restoring pride and creating opportunity across our city.

The Issue:
Many of Quitman’s water lines, roads, and public systems are in poor condition and long overdue for repair. Because the city is not audit compliant, it becomes harder to secure state and federal funding for these improvements. Without verified records and financial transparency, progress stalls while our infrastructure continues to age.

The Solution:
We will complete all outstanding audits and restore the city’s financial credibility so we can qualify for infrastructure grants and improvement programs. Once compliant, we can develop a clear repair schedule that prioritizes the most urgent needs and uses public funds responsibly. A transparent and balanced budget will help us fix what is broken, improve water and road systems, and build the foundation for long-term growth.
